End Semester for Reporting and Editing

Paranjoy Guha Thakurta is an imminent journalist and an educator. He was the erstwhile editor of the "Economic and Political Weekly''. With a career that spans 39 years, he is a man of many talents as he is a Publisher and Documentary Filmmaker. He can speak, anchor, interview and teach in three languages: English, Bengali, and Hindi. He delivered a speech at CHRIST (Deemed to be University) NCR Campus on the topic "Voices Unleashed: Navigating Freedom of Expression in Contemporary India," held on January 31, 2024. He spoke about how freedom of speech can be used in the best ways through various challenges. He is also a staunch advocate against crony capitalism and his production “Dharavi ka Dada Kaun?” is an example of that as it is a critical piece about more than half a million residents of Dharavi, Mumbai who face displacement from their homes and livelihoods from the Adani group's Dharavi Slum Redevelopment project. This production of his is an interesting take on redevelopment that is at the expense of the locals.
